One dead in Honey Brook house fire with explosion

HONEY BROOK — An explosion was reported at the scene of a house fire in Honey Brook Township Friday, and a body was later recovered by firefighters under the home’s rubble.

According to news reports, the fire started around 4:48 a.m. on Friday in the 200 block of Hunters Run Road in western Chester County.

As smoke billowed from the home, the fire caused a partial collapse of the building and crews reported hearing explosions. It is unclear if the explosions caused the fire or were caused because of the fire.

There has been no word on how many people were inside the house at the time of the fire. The identity of the deceased person was not immediately known.

A caller had reported the house on fire with multiple explosions, according to the county Department of Emergency Services. The fire was brought under control just after 6 a.m.

This is a developing story.
