One killed in head-on crash in Exeter Township

Police and emergency responders were called to the scene of a multivehicle crash in Exeter Township Friday afternoon.

Sgt. Sean Fullerton of the Exeter Township Police confirmed one person was killed in the accident.

The name of the deceased has not yet been released.

The three-vehicle crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Perkiomen Avenue near East 37th Street.

“At this point we are confirming one fatality,” Fullerton said. “I don’t have more information yet as to what that person’s role was in the accident, which vehicle they were in and whether they were a passenger or driver.”

According to Fullerton:

One vehicle containing a driver and two passengers was traveling eastbound on Perkiomen Avenue.

That vehicle crossed the lane into oncoming traffic, striking two westbound vehicles.

One of those vehicles had two people in it and the other had only a driver.

The fire company had to extricate the driver of the original striking vehicle.

In addition to the deceased, the other five people involved all sustained injuries and were taken to a local hospital.

No names were released and no information on their conditions was available.

Investigation into the crash by township police is underway.

This story will be updated as additional information becomes available.
