By DaniRae Renno, pennlive.com (TNS)

One person died in a Lancaster County plane crash Sunday morning, the Lancaster County coroner told WGAL.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the plane was leaving the Lancaster Airport when it crashed into a field around 8 a.m. Only the pilot was on board.

The plane was a Piper PA-46, a class of light, single-engine aircraft, according to a statement from the FAA. The specific variant of plane was not released.

The crash site is along the 2100 block of Kissel Hill Road, just outside of the airport, according to WGAL.

The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the crash investigation and will provide updates as they become available. The FAA will assist.
