Here are some of the outstanding performances by Berks high school athletes for the week of Sept. 2-7:
Boys cross country
Wyomissing senior David Giles finished the 5,000 meter Wyomissing course in 15:43.2 to help the Spartans defeat Exeter 26-30.
Girls cross country
Gov. Mifflin senior Lydia Drago ran 19:28.3 for the 5,000-meter course at Twin Valley and was the girls individual race winner, helping the Mustangs defeat Twin Valley 21-37, Schuylkill Valley 17-46 and Hamburg 15-50.
Field hockey
Hamburg senior Ashleigh Guers scored three goals to help lead Hamburg to a 6-0 win over Fleetwood. Guers also scored two goals to help lead the Hawks to a 3-0 win over Tulpehocken.
Football
Muhlenberg junior Cameron Small rushed for 295 yards and scored four rushing touchdowns, as the Muhls defeated the Blazers 40-29.
Golf
Wilson freshman Luke Fallon shot a two-under 33 for nine holes at Rich Maiden to lead the Bulldogs to a 155-182 win over Kutztown on Wednesday.
Boys soccer
Exeter senior Callan Stuck scored three goals to lead the Eagles to a 4-1 win over Reading High.
Girls soccer
Hamburg senior Jenna Piltz scored four goals to lead Hamburg to an 8-1 victory over Octorara.
Girls tennis
Wyomissing senior Charlotte Reedy won singles matches against three different opponents to help the Spartans earn wins against Blue Mountain, Tulpehocken and Muhlenberg.
Girls volleyball
Exeter sophomore Lily Acker had 29 assists, five digs and three aces to help lead the Eagles to a 3-0 win over Muhlenberg.
Boys water polo
Oley Valley’s Evan Carl scored eight goals and had four assists to lead the Exeter Eagles to a 21-11 win over Central York. Carl, a senior, also had seven goals and two steals in Exeter’s 17-10 loss against Wilson, and scored eight goals as well as five assists, three steals and a block in the Eagle’s 16-9 win over Perkiomen Valley.
Girls water polo
Reading High’s Nylah Hayes made 17 saves to help the Red Knights defeat Central York 11-7.
