Emergency crews were on the scene Sunday afternoon of a plane crash in Lancaster County, according to multiple reports.
Photos and a video from a scene showed a plane in flames in the parking lot at Brethren Village Retirement Community in Manheim Township.
That’s located less than a mile south of Lancaster Airport.
Dispatchers reported the crash around 3:15 p.m., according to LancasterOnline.
According to news reports and residents posting on Facebook, multiple ambulances converged on the crash scene.
Emergency crews told LancasterOnline that five people were injured in the incident.
Dispatch confirmed to WGAL-TV8 that Route 501 in the area of the crash is closed in both directions.
A PennLive reporter and photographer are headed to the scene.
The small aircraft went down at around 3:00 p.m. just outside the Lancaster Airport in Manheim Township, according to local police officials, who could not provide immediate information on the fatalities or injuries.
The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed there were five people on the plane, a Beechcraft Bonanza, when it went down.
Footage shared on social media showed black smoke billowing from the wreckage of the plane and multiple vehicles engulfed in flames.
