Players needed for Berks-LL Carpenter Cup baseball team

Players are needed for the Berks-LL Carpenter Cup baseball team, according to Cup team head coach Jason McCoy.

McCoy, the head baseball coach at Daniel Boone High School and head coach/general manager of the Cup team, said that there are only 13 players signed up to date to try out for the team.

McCoy said that 25 players are required on the roster in order for the team to participate in the Cup, which is held at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

McCoy said right now there are players who have signed up from Cocalico, Daniel Boone, Exeter, Twin Valley, and Wilson high schools. He emphasized that all 25 players on the roster will play.

McCoy noted these highlights of the event.

• This is a showcase sponsored by and run by the Philadelphia Phillies and Nike.

• Players are seen by more than 80 colleges and universities in addition to playing in front of MLB scouts.

• This event is free to all players. This is an opportunity for players who want to play beyond high school to be seen and begin/continue the recruiting process.

• Players will be provided with a Jersey compliments of the R-Phils and Baseballtown Charities that they will get to keep.

Tryouts are this coming Sunday at 9 a.m. at Muhlenberg’s Gochnauer Field.

Players must fill out a Player Recommendation Form 2024 in order to participate.

To request a form, email McCord at jason.mccord@dboone.org.
