from Reading Hospital – Tower Health
The Reading Hospital Road Run, hosted by The Friends of Reading Hospital, will return to West Reading on Sunday, Oct. 20. This year’s event will support Reading Hospital Rehabilitation at Wyomissing, which provides care to patients who have experienced functional loss or disability following an accident, illness, or injury.
Whether you are a seasoned runner or simply looking to enjoy a walk with family and friends, the Reading Hospital Road Run will have something for everyone, including a 10K (6.2 miles), 5K (3.1 miles), and free Fun Run (approximately one mile), as well as resource stations, activities, and food trucks.
“This event is truly beloved in our community,” Charles F. Barbera, MD, President and CEO of Reading Hospital, said. “I look forward to it every year. There is something special about watching our community and employees rally together to support a good cause.”
Participants and spectators are encouraged to learn more about Reading Hospital by visiting the many resource and activity stations, which will include a Teddy Bear Clinic for children hosted by TowerDIRECT, Stop the Bleed Training hosted by the Reading Hospital Trauma Center, and a dynamic stretching station hosted by Reading Hospital Rehabilitation at Wyomissing. All proceeds from the run will be used to support Reading Hospital Rehabilitation Center at Wyomissing, which offers comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation and transitional care to outpatient programs in one location. It is the only hospital in the region accredited by both the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and The Joint Commission.
“We are indebted to everyone who helps make this event possible,” Katherine Thornton, President of the Reading Hospital Foundation, said. “There were many helping hands, and we are grateful for each one of them. It is events like Reading Hospital Road Run that help to support our tradition of giving.”
