Reading is Taking Measures to Save Water During Drought

The days of snow that this winter has given us have not been enough to calm the drought that has affected Reading, PA, for several months.

Due to this drought, the Reading Area Water Authority (RAWA) issued an order to save 15 percent of the water consumed by all residents and businesses in the city.

RAWA also urged residents not to wash cars outdoors, water lawns and golf courses, fill swimming pools, and any activity that wastes water.

Water is a fundamental element for agriculture, livestock, and other activities that we carry out in our daily lives, so every drop that we waste will affect us in the future.

Motivated by these reasons, several organizations in the city began a campaign to raise awareness among the population about the importance of saving water.

These entities include Reading City Public Works, the Environmental Advisory Council, and Barrio Alegría, which are working to eliminate environmental pollution and protect natural resources.

Reading Toma Medidas para Economizar el Agua Durante la Sequía

Los días de nieve que nos regaló este invierno, no han sido lo suficientes, para calmar la sequía que afecta a Reading, PA, desde hace varios meses.

Debido a esta sequía la Autoridad del Agua del Área de Reading (RAWA), emitió una orden de ahorrar el 15 por ciento del agua que consumen todos los residentes y empresas de esa localidad.

RAWA también exhortó a los residentes a no lavar los carros al aire libre, regar el césped, campos de golf, llenar piscinas y cualquier actividad que desperdicie agua.

El agua es un elemento fundamental para la agricultura, ganadería, y otras actividades que realizamos en nuestra vida diaria, por lo que cada gota que desperdiciamos nos afecta en el futuro.

Motivados por estas razones varias organizaciones de esa localidad iniciaron una campaña, para concientizar a la población de la importancia de economizar el agua.

Entre estas entidades se encuentran Obras Públicas de la Ciudad de Reading, el Consejo Ambiental y Barrio Alegría, que luchan porque se elimine la contaminación del medioambiente y el cuidado de los recursos naturales.
