Volunteers with Safe Berks are operating a gift-wrapping table at the Berkshire Mall. People can have holiday gifts wrapped and make a donation knowing it will help the organization, formerly known as Berks Women in Crisis, provide free services to victims of domestic violence.
The annual effort started Dec. 1 and will continue through Dec. 24.
The Safe Berks gift-wrapping table is located near Center Court, next to the escalator and across from Kay Jewelers. All donations will benefit Safe Berks’ programs.
“We are so grateful to all our dedicated volunteers who have donated their valuable time to wrap gifts to help Safe Berks,” said Beth Garrigan, Safe Berks CEO. “Our gift-wrapping table is an important fundraiser, and we hope you will visit with your gifts.
“All donations help us continue to provide free services to local survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. While most of us enjoy the safety and happiness of our homes during the holidays, unfortunately, home is not a safe place for everyone. For victims of domestic violence, home can be the most dangerous place of all.”
Safe Berks services include shelter, a 24-hour phone and text line, counseling, legal services, medical advocacy, and education and outreach programs. Its services are free, confidential and available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Services are available in English and Spanish and will be translated into other
languages as needed. The 24-hour hotline number is 844-789-7233 or text SAFE BERKS to 20121.
