Reading firefighters had to free at least one occupant of a car this morning after a collision with a school van at Washington and Reed streets.
The crash happened about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and closed the intersection near the Berks County Services Center and main branch of the YMCA.
According to initial reports, fire department personnel used hydraulic equipment to free an occupant from the car. At least one person from the car was taken by ambulance to a hospital.
The driver’s side of the car sustained heavy damage and side air bags had deployed.
None of the occupants of the school van was injured. It was unclear if any children were aboard.
