A Labor Day shooing at an apartment complex in Exeter Township sent one person to the hospital, according to police.
The shooting happened shortly after 1:30 p.m. Monday in Chalfont Place, part of the Exeter Village apartment complex in the Lorane section of the township.
Lt. Sean Fullerton, Exeter police spokesman, said officers responded to a report of gunfire and discovered a male victim. They rendered aid before the victim was placed into an ambulance and taken to Reading Hospital.
The victim’s condition wasn’t immediately available.
The person who shot the male surrendered a short time later and was taken to the police station for questioning, Fullerton said.
The motive for the shooting wasn’t immediately identified, and it was unknown what, if any, charges he might face.
“We are still investigating it,” Fullerton said. “Our detectives are on the scene.”
Exeter police are working closely with the Berks County district attorney’s office, he added.
