Six pro tennis players coming to Berks for annual tournament

The 6th Annual Performance Volvo Pro Tennis Challenge is Aug. 14-15 at the Emkey Tennis Garden in Wyomissing.

Play begins Thursday with round robin matches at 9:30 a.m. and continues during the day into the night session which starts at 7:30 p.m. Play continues Friday with a special exhibition match with players to be announced followed by the men’s championship at 1 p.m.

The event, presented by the Berks County Tennis Association, will benefit the IM ABLE Foundation starting in 2025 with its mission to remove obstacles that prevent people with challenges from participating in physical activities and programs. The foundation’s aim is to empower individuals with disabilities to be active and enjoy the benefits of physical fitness. This includes providing grants for adaptive equipment and offering inclusive fitness programs.

Prize money for the event is $9,000.

On Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Hampden Park, the ATP pros from the event will conduct a one-hour junior clinic for local players ages 12-18. Email berkscountytennis@gmail.com or call 610-451-2401. Spots in the junior clinic are $40/player with proceeds of the clinic  benefiting IM ABLE Foundation.

“The BCTA is excited to yet again partner with the Emkey family to bring world class tennis to Berks County with six ATP professional tennis players,” said event director and USTA Middle States President Ryan Knarr. “We are thrilled to have IM ABLE Foundation as the event beneficiary starting in 2025 as well as Performance Volvo as our new title sponsor.”
