Year-Round Fishing: This event is in memory of Betty Dietz and Bruce Schneck. Stockings of tagged fish will be on or about April 8, 15, 22 and 29. Tagged fish every stocking total $10,000. Top prizes will be $500, $300 and $200 along with 50 at $100 each. Deadline for registration at Werner Lumber or Stony Gun and Archery will be Saturday, April 7, or April 8 until 4 p.m. at Fish and Boat Access pavilion. Pysanky Class: Folk artist Georgine Postupak-Borchick will teach pysanky egg-making classes at the Schuylkill County Historical Society, 305 N. Centre St., Pottsville, from 6 to 8 p.m. on March 30. Fees for each of the two classes are $30 for society members and $35 for the general public. Supplies will be provided, and take-home kits will be available for $10 each. History
Hamburg Area Historical Society: “Shotguns in the Valley” with Brian Engelhart, Thursday, April 13 at 7 p.m. (note date change), Hamburg Area High School LGI Room. A history of the construction of the Maidencreek Dam and Lake Ontelaunee between 1925 and 1932, the Reading water supply that created the need and the drama of the 1927 “Shotgun Rebellion” of local farmers who protested the construction.
