South Schuylkill News Police Reports, Jan. 18, 2024

The following information comes from police reports and court records.

Crash: On Jan. 8 at about 4 p.m., state police responded to an accident on Route 61 in Port Clinton. Shannon McHugh, 21, Jim Thorpe, fell asleep at the wheel and lost control of her car, which left the highway and hit an embankment. The car was towed. McHugh was not injured.

Crash: On Jan. 6 at about 12:30 p.m., state police responded to an accident on Seltzer Road and New Street in Norwegian Township. Vehicles traveling in opposite directions colllided on a curve.  A 6-year-old female was ejected from one vehicle, resulting in serious injuries. She was transported to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest by ambulance. The drivers were transported to Lehigh Valley East for suspected minor injuries. Other passengers were transported to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest. The 6-year-old was transferred to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

DUI on View Drugs: On Jan. 1 at about 10:40 a.m., state police conducted a traffic stop on Route 61 at Blue Mountain Road in Port Clinton. Camron Brown, 29, Sinking Spring was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. Police continue to investigate.

Criminal Mischief: State police responded to Natale Court in Pine Grove Township for a report of criminal mischief on Jan. 1 at about 11:50 a.m. A woman’s vehicle was damaged, and the person was identified and charged. The case is pending court.

Burglary: On Dec. 27 state police responded to a reported burglary at Kelsey Drive in North Manheim Township. Someone entered via an open sliding door and took money, jewelry and personal identification documents. A neighborhood canvas revealed a mid 2010 to early 2020 black Jeep Cherokee driven by a Black male and occupied by a Black female front seat passenger were possibly involved. Troopers are requesting Kelsey Drive residents with security cameras to review their footage for Dec. 27 in an attempt to obtain a registration, identifying information or other additional information for the incident.

Crash: On Dec. 26 at about 1 p.m., state police responded to Bacon Street in Palo Alto for an accident. An SUV driven by Tessa Remaley, 29, Pottsville, struck a stopped tractor-trailer. The SUV was towed. Remaley was not injured.

Crash: On Dec. 24 at about 1:40 a.m. state police responded to an accident on Route 183, North Manheim Township. Stephen Smith Jr., 28, Schuylkill Haven, lost control of his car and struck three parked vehicles in the R&J Transportation lot. Smith was charged with DUI.

DUI on View Alcohol: On Dec. 22 at about 11:30 p.m., state police  initiated a traffic stop for a traffic violation. Police found the driver, Christopher Moser, 28, Ashland, showing signs of impairment. Police continue the investigation.

Firearm Found: State police responded to Millers Road in Wayne Township on Dec. 23 at about 9 a.m. for a found firearm. The weapon is described as a Blued Remington 700 Rifle. Anyone with information is asked to call troopers at 570-754-4600.

Assault Serious Bodily Injury: On Dec. 5 at about 6:15 p.m., state police were dispatched to the first block of Suedberg Road in Pine Grove Township for a reported assault. Lucas Donton, 25, Pine Grove was arrested.
