State police plan sobriety checkpoint, beefed up DUI patrols in Berks

State police from the Hamburg station say they plan to conduct increased DUI patrol and a sobriety checkpoint in upcoming weekends.

Officials said in a news release that troopers will be looking for signs of drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Every year thousands of people are killed or injured in alcohol-related crashes in Pennsylvania, officials said, adding that state police remain committed to making the commonwealth a safe place for travel.
