State police at Hamburg are seeking help in identifying the person who shot a dog with a pellet gun in Windsor Township.
A trooper was dispatched Wednesday afternoon to the 400 block of Steven Drive after the dog’s owners reported the injury. The Labrador retriever had been treated earlier in the day at a veterinary hospital where it was confirmed in an X-ray that it suffered a pellet gun wound to the left shoulder.
Troopers are investigating the shooting as a case of animal cruelty. The owner believes the dog was shot between Jan. 25 and Wednesday.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Hamburg station at 610-562-6885.
Tips can be made via Crime Alert Berks County’s anonymous tip line, 877-373-9913. Tips can also be sent via text, using the keyword “alert berks,” to 847411.
