A 21-year-old woman was seriously injured when the SUV she was driving collided Tuesday afternoon with a tractor-trailer and rolled several times on southbound Route 222 just north of the Lancaster County line, police said.
The crash happened shortly after 1 p.m. in Brecknock Township, Berks County, and closed the southbound lanes for nearly an hour north of the Route 272 intersection at Adamstown, police said.
Brecknock Township police said the crash is classified as a hit-and-run accident because the tractor-trailer didn’t stop.
Police said the driver of the southbound SUV crossed in front of the southbound rig and the collision occurred. The SUV began to roll, coming to rest in the travel lanes.
Emergency responders found the woman unresponsive in the SUV. She was taken by ambulance to Reading Hospital.
Police withheld her name. Information on her medical condition could not be obtained.
Police are trying to identify the tractor-trailer and its driver. Anyone with information is asked to call Brecknock police at 717-445-0656.
