Ten Berks Class 2A wrestlers advance to PIAA meet

Ten Berks wrestlers qualified for states out of the Class 2A Southeast Regional Tournament that ended Saturday at Bethlehem Freedom High School.

Berks Catholic’s Brody Kline was the highest finisher from the county, coming in second at 215 pounds. Kline, the District 3 runner-up, lost 6-1 in the final to District 3 champ Brad Morrison of West Perry. He was one of six Saints wrestlers to move on.

Also advancing to the PIAA Wrestling Championships March 10-12 at Hershey’s Giant Center by finishing in the top six were Berks Catholic’s Brayden Hartranft, fifth at 106; Brandywine Heights’ Jacob Deysher, fifth at 120; Brandywine Heights’ Dillon Reinert, third at 126; Berks Catholic’s Marvin Armistead, fifth at 132; Berks Catholic’s Carmine Lenzi, sixth at 138; Berks Catholic’s Gabriel Davis, fourth at 172; Hamburg’s Charles Sheppard, third at 285; Wyomissing Caleb Brewer, fifth at 285; and Berks Catholic’s Mason Iswalt, sixth at 285.
Brewer pinned Iswalt in 2:01 in the fifth-place match.
