Tractor-trailer hits vehicle, damages former auto shop in northern Berks

A tractor-trailer crashed into a vehicle, seriously injuring three people and damaging a former auto shop in Perry Township Wednesday evening, according to emergency reports.

The accident was reported about 5:50 p.m. at the former Corvette Corner building at the intersection of Route 61 southbound, also known as Pottsville Pike, and Zweizig Road.

Corvette Corner is listed as permanently closed on Google.

A large tractor-trailer collided with a parked vehicle, pushing it into the building and causing structural damage, reports said.

Photos posted to social media show the damaged XPO tractor-trailer next to a large hole in the corner of the building, with debris scattered around the scene.

The crash resulted in critical injuries to three patients, according to reports, with multiple ambulances called to provide advanced life support aid.

Route 61 southbound was closed following the accident.
