Former President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social late Friday that he is planning another rally in Butler, Pa. — the site of his assassination attempt earlier this month.
In the post, Trump said he would be “honoring the soul of our beloved firefighting hero, Corey, and those brave patriots injured two weeks ago.”
Trump was just minutes into his previous Butler rally when 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire from a nearby rooftop, killing one audience member and injuring several others.
Those injured included Trump, who was rushed off stage by Secret Service agents, with blood spilling from his ear. He appeared at the Republican National Convention in the days after the rally with the injured ear bandaged.
Thousands gathered last week to remember Corey Comperatore, who died while shielding his family from gunfire.
The director of the Secret Service, Kimberly Cheatle, resigned on Tuesday after testifying to Congress over how the situation was handled and outcry over Crooks being able to get so close to Trump during the previous Butler rally, which was held at the Butler Farm Show grounds.
Trump did not announce any further details about the new Butler rally at this time. He will be holding a rally at the Pennsylvania Farm Show complex in Harrisburg on Wednesday.
