Tulpehocken, Conrad Weiser lose in PIAA boys soccer quarterfinals

Tulpehocken lost to Charleroi 1-0 on a goal by Bryce Large in the first overtime of Saturday’s PIAA Class 1A boys soccer quarterfinal at Greencastle-Antrim.

The District 3 runner-up Trojans (21-5) had advantages of 12-10 in shots and 8-4 in corners against the District 7 runner-up Cougars (21-1).

Nick Becker made nine saves for Tulpehocken.

Charleroi will play District 7 champ Bentworth — a 3-1 winner over Burrell Saturday — in a semifinal match Tuesday.

Springfield Township 4, Conrad Weiser 0: At Coatesville, the District 3 runner-up Scouts (22-5) allowed three goals in the first half in falling to the District 1 runner-up Spartans (20-2-1).

Springfield Township will face District 1 champ Radnor — a 2-0 winner over District 4 champ Selinsgrove Saturday — in a semifinal Tuesday.

Weiser, making its first appearance in states since 2003, beat North Pocono 3-1 in the first round for its first PIAA victory since 1999.
