Two injured by gunfire at northern Berks County restaurant

A Leesport man was arrested early Sunday morning in a shooting at a Tilden Township restaurant.

Thomas Fronina, 37, was charged with assault, reckless endangerment and discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, according to state police at the Hamburg station.

Troopers gave the following account:

At 1:09 a.m., troopers were called to Pappy T’s Pub and Lounge in the first block of Industrial Drive for a report of a shooting. Investigators said Fronina removed a .380 caliber pistol from his pocket to show another patron and discharged a single round toward the floor, striking a 43-year-old Leesport woman in the lower leg. A 45-year-old Orwigsburg man was struck in the ankle by a bullet fragment.

The woman was transported to Reading Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The male victim had a minor injury.

Police did not reveal the victims’ identities. Information on the status of Fronina’s case was not available Sunday.
