Wanted Delaware County man apprehended; linked to crimes in Berks, Lehigh [update]

A man wanted on attempted murder charges in Tinicum Township, Delaware County, and linked to stolen cars in Lehigh and Berks County was arrested in Harrisburg, state police said Wednesday.

Umar Kimel Presbery, 29, of Chester was apprehended along with another man at about 4 p.m. Tuesday, according to troopers.

Presbery was wanted on attempted murder, aggravated assault, robbery of a motor vehicle and other charges related to a Jan. 2 offense in Tinicum.

Tinicum Police Superintendent William Righter said his officers were called out to the Airport Waterfront Inn on Taylor Avenue at about 12:39 a.m. for a report of a stabbing.

Responding officers made contact with the victim, who was transported to Crozer-Chester Medical Center for treatment, Righter said.

Presbery was developed as a suspect, and Tinicum issued a warrant for his arrest, which was executed by Harrisburg police about 16 hours later.

Righter said he did not know what other charges Presbery may be facing in other jurisdictions or the current status of the victim.

He said the victim and Presbery may have known one another, but the investigation is still ongoing and those details, as well as the circumstances of the alleged assault, are still being fleshed out.

Troopers linked Presbery to a stolen car found in Weisenberg Township, Lehigh County, and another taken from Greenwich Township, Berks County. Police found Presbery in the latter vehicle and took him into custody. He was committed to Dauphin County Prison.
