A motorcyclist died of injuries suffered in a crash near Newmanstown, police in Millcreek Township, Lebanon County, announced Saturday.
Investigators gave this account:
On Friday at about 4 p.m., police were dispatched to an accident scene at the intersection of Stricklerstown and Rod and Gun roads. The crash involved a motorcycle driven by Zachary Books, 40, Robesonia, and an SUV driven by Donna Montich, 52, King of Prussia..
Emergency medical workers treated Brooks at the scene and transported him to Reading Hospital. The Berks County coroner’s office informed police that the rider died of his injuries.
Montich was not injured.
Police said the crash took place when the SUV was attempting to turn left from Stricklerstown Road to Road and Gun Road. The motorcyclist, heading in the opposite direction on Stricklerstown, collided with the SUV as it was turning.
Millcreek Township police were assisted on scene by the Newmanstown Ambulance Association, Myerstown Ambulance, First Aid and Safety of Lebanon, Newmanstown Fire Department, Richland Neptune Fire Department, Womelsdorf Fire Department, Schoeneck Fire Department, fire police from Newmanstown, Richland and Womelsdorf as well as the state police accident reconstruction team.
The crash is still under investigation. Witnesses are asked to contact Millcreek police Sgt Terry Katzaman at 610-589-4066.
