Wyomissing, Conrad Weiser advance to District 3 Class 2A girls tennis semifinals

Top-seeded Wyomissing and two-time defending champion Conrad Weiser advanced to face each other in the semifinals of the District 3 Class 2A girls tennis team tournament with victories Wednesday.

The Spartans defeated eighth-seeded Hamburg 4-1, and the fifth-seeded Scouts beat fourth-seeded Delone Catholic 4-1.

At Wyomissing, the Spartans (11-1) earned singles victories from Kathryn Masano at No. 2 and Lily Chen at No. 3, and doubles wins from the No. 1 team of Lexi Aita and Hadley Lynch, and the No. 2 team of  Raissa Estime and Katie Kaufmann.

Mia Gassert won at No. 1 singles for Hamburg (10-4).

At South Western High School, the Scouts (14-2) beat the Squirettes (13-2) with singles wins from Berks champ Emma Perkins at No. 1 and Isabel Wiggins at No. 3, and doubles wins from the No. 1 team Lydia Bashore and Charlotte Wenrich, and the No. 2 team of Emily McGonigle and Reagan Wenrich.

Wyomissing and Weiser will meet in a semifinal Monday at Hershey Racquet Club at a time to be announced. The Scouts beat the Spartans 3-1 in the Berks semifinals last week.
