15-year-old boy shot in the face in eastern Berks

A 15-year-old boy was shot in the face early Saturday in eastern Berks County, according to emergency reports.

Crews were dispatched shortly after midnight to the 400 block of Landis Store Road in Pike Township for the youth with a jaw wound from a gunshot, according to reports.

Fire and medics staged near the scene waiting for state police to arrive, but residents came out of the house with the youth and approached the crews, according to reports.

The youth was conscious and alert and an ambulance crew transported him to Lehigh Valley Hospital near Allentown. Crews learned that the wound was from a .22-caliber weapon.

State police had no information later Saturday morning.
