The Berks County Area Agency on Aging, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities, invites community members to attend the 2025 Elder Abuse Symposium on Tuesday, June 3, at Kraras Hall, located at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 1001 E. Wyomissing Blvd., Reading.
The symposium will begin with breakfast at 7:45 a.m. The program starts at 8:30 a.m. and concludes around lunchtime.
This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Bonnie Olsen, a renowned geropsychologist and professor of clinical family medicine at the University of Southern California. With over a decade of experience, Dr. Olsen is recognized for her work in elder capacity assessment and research into mistreatment in dementia caregiving and decision-making capacity.
Attendees will also hear from members of the Berks County Elder Abuse Task Force and representatives from the Pennsylvania Department of Banking, who will share insights on recognizing, preventing, and addressing various forms of elder abuse, including financial exploitation.
The symposium is a vital opportunity for professionals, caregivers, and community members to learn, collaborate, and strengthen protections for older adults in our community.
Registration is required, and a complimentary breakfast will be provided. To register, scan the QR code found on the event flyer below.
