From Wyomissing Public Library
The eight-part 2025 Great Decisions series at the Wyomissing Public Library will begin on Monday, March 3, at 6 p.m. The first program, America at a Global Crossroads, will explore the contours of the U.S. foreign policy debate as it plays out in a world of multiple and escalating crises and domestic polarization. Michelle Mart, PhD, Associate Professor of History at Penn State Berks, will be the facilitator for the topic.
Great Decisions is America’s largest discussion program on world affairs. Participants read the Great Decisions Briefing Book, watch the video series, and meet in a Discussion Group to discuss the most critical global issues facing America today. In addition to the Wyomissing Public Library, the World Affairs Council of Greater Reading partners locally with the Reading Public Library, the Jewish Cultural Center, the Heritage of Green Hills, Phoebe Berks, and the Highlands at Wyomissing to inform and engage area residents in issues of global significance.
Beginning March 10th, the programs at the Wyomissing Library will begin at 4:30 p.m. and end at 7 p.m. Remaining topics and facilitators are:
- March 10: The Evolution of US Leadership in the Global Economy, with Randall Newnham, PhD, Penn State Berks
- March 24: India: Between China, The West and the Global South, with Solomon Lausch, EdD, local World Affairs Council
- March 31: The Future of NATO and European Security, with Jess Royer, World Affairs Council
- April 7: International Climate Cooperation in an Era of Geopolitical Turmoil, with Nevin Hollinger, World Affairs Council

- April 28: AI and American National Security, with Mike McCarthy, World Affairs Council
- May 5: American Foreign Policy in the Middle East, with David Beane, World Affairs Council
Each program will include a video on the subject, and a discussion, including a Q&A between the facilitator and the group. Registration for the full series is required; the cost is $35 for one person or $40 for two people in the same household. Payment may be made with cash, a check payable to WPL, or MasterCard or Visa. The library will accept registrations until 5:30 p.m. on March 3.
