Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank will host its second annual Celebration of Community and Hope on Thursday, Oct. 10, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Reading, 701 Penn St., Reading. The organization anticipates more than 400 guests will attend the dinner.
Featured during the celebration, Jim Boscov, Chair, Our City Reading, will provide a message regarding highlights and updates related to the Helping Harvest Community Kitchen. Other speakers will include Dr. Jennifer Murray, Reading School District Superintendent; Ryan Hassler, Helping Harvest Board Chair; Rev. Jennifer Dee, Trinity Lutheran Robesonia Pastor; and Jay Worrall, Helping Harvest President. The dinner’s presenting sponsor is GIANT Food Stores.
The event will raise funds to support our mission to feed the hungry. Helping Harvest provides food for over 4,000 children throughout Berks and Schuylkill counties each week through the Weekender Program. Helping Harvest’s additional programs include the Senior Food Box Program, the Mobile Markets, and the recently announced Maternal Health program.
Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank is the leading provider of food to people in need in Berks and Schuylkill counties. Helping Harvest delivers food to over 350 partners in Berks and Schuylkill County and last year provided over $19 million in food to 119,000 residents in our community. Helping Harvest is a member of Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger relief organization.
