All Berks boys tennis teams are eliminated from the District 3 doubles championships

All eight Berks teams that qualified for the District 3 doubles championships in boys tennis were eliminated during the first day of competition Friday at Hershey Racquet Club.

Four Berks teams, two in each class, did advance to the quarterfinals.

In Class 2A, Wyomissing’s second-seeded team of Sawyer Helgeson and Peter Folga defeated Trinity’s Andrew Tran and Jose Centenera 6-0, 4-6, 6-4 in the first round before losing to Pequea Valley’s Wade Stoltzfus and Jazae Itegi 5-7, 7-5, 6-1.

Conrad Weiser’s fourth-seeded team of Jio Garcia and Reed Kopcik beat Camp Hill’s Clayton Herb and Ducky Mueller 6-2, 6-3 in the first round, then lost to Susquehannock’s Colin Brusse and Lucas Reck 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (5).

In the first round, Kutztown’s Blake Nolte and Otis Engel lost to Annville-Cleona’s Simon Domencic and Samuel Domencic 6-3, 6-2, and Brandywine Heights’ Nate Burger and Brian Sexton lost to Lancaster Mennonite’s Reece Girdharry and Will Stillman 6-4, 6-4.

In Class 3A, Berks champs Jackson Bonds and Dylan Bonds of Twin Valley defeated Elizabethtown’s Trent McBride and Steve Dupler 6-4, 6-1 in the first round, then lost to Cumberland Valley’s fourth-seeded team of William Ong and Ross Kluger 6-3, 6-4.

Exeter’s Teddy Snyder and Jake Tryanski defeated Red Lion’s Andrew Nadeau and Cooper Wheeler 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 in the first round, then lost to Palmyra’s top-seeded team of Aidan Mahaffey and Tyler Mahaffey 6-1, 6-0.

In the first round, Reading High’s Zach Schrader and Joel Rodriguez lost to Hershey’s Jesse Mullins and Charlie Horner 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, and Wilson’s Will Hill and Ben Winkler lost to South Western’s Alex Guy and Mason Neiderer 6-4, 6-4.
