from Albright College
Ketra Armstrong, Ph.D., will discuss how race and gender impact sports, sports marketing, and sport consumption behavior as the keynote to Albright College’s upcoming fall 2024 Empowering Albright Voices Day, on Friday, Oct. 4 (free and open to the public). Her address, “Giving equity and inclusion a sporting chance!” will be held at 11 a.m., in MPK Chapel.
Focusing on the behaviors of women and consumers of African descent, Armstrong is a current professor of sport management and DEI director, as well as a former NCAA Division I scholarship student-athlete and basketball coach, athletic administrator, and sports journalist.
Armstrong’s keynote will be part of a daylong slate of events that encourage participants to openly discuss difficult topics or learn about people who are different from themselves. Head coaches will explore their sports’ controversial histories and spirituality in athletics, first-generation student-athletes will talk about handling the demands of being a first-generation student-athlete without having a family member to turn to for advice, and participants will discuss the inclusion of trans women in women’s sports.
