Berks County added 238 new COVID cases over two days, according to the Monday update of the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s dashboard.
There were 124 new cases reported Sunday, and 114 new cases reported Monday. The county’s pandemic total increased to 56,235. The daily update is a tally of the previous day’s results, in this case Saturday and Sunday.
There were no dashboard updates for deaths and vaccinations.
According to the state, Berks has had 1,103 deaths due to COVID since the start of the pandemic. The county coroner has a pandemic total of 1,050.
Berks County hospitals had 64 COVID patients hospitalized, of which 14 were in intensive care units and nine were on ventilators, according to the state’s hospital preparedness dashboard update.
Reading Hospital had 33 hospitalized COVID patients in the 24-hour period before the Monday update of Tower Health’s COVID dashboard. Of those patients, four were in the intensive care unit and four were on ventilators. The hospital reported five discharges and two deaths during the 24-hour period.
Penn State Health updates its dashboard on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. According to Monday’s update, Penn State Health St. Joseph had a total of 17 hospitalized adult COVID patients. Of those 17 patients, 14 were not fully vaccinated and three were fully vaccinated. Six not fully vaccinated and two fully vaccinated patients were in the intensive care unit, and three not fully vaccinated patients and one fully vaccinated patient were on ventilators.
Statewide, a total of 2,967 people were hospitalized with COVID. Of those patients, 670 were in the intensive care unit and 368 were on ventilators.
Pennsylvania added a total of 6,779 new COVID cases in a two-day period, according to Monday’s dashboard update.
There were 3,907 new cases reported Sunday, and 2,872 new cases reported Monday. Pennsylvania’s pandemic total increased to 1,482,236.
