Berks Catholic girls sweep Lampeter-Strasburg in District 3 volleyball opener [updated]

Caroline Reedy had nine kills, six digs and one block as Berks Catholic swept Lampeter-Strasburg 3-0 in a District 3 Class 3A girls volleyball opener Thursday night at Wolf Gymnasium.

The third-seeded Saints (19-2) advanced to the quarterfinals after easily beating the 14th-seeded Pioneers (8-9) 25-8, 25-13, 25-13. They will play sixth-seeded West York, a 3-0 winner over Red Land, Tuesday night at home.

Also for Berks Catholic, Delaney Jack had six kills, four blocks, 10 digs and one ace, Jillian Avadanian had 17 digs two assists and one ace, and Olivia Hagelbarger had eight digs and two aces.

For Lampeter-Strasburg, Emily Mullin had seven kills and eight assists, Anya Myers had 15 digs, Sachi Singh had two aces and Jenna Hoover had six blocks.

Twin Valley 3, Daniel Boone 0: At Twin Valley, the fifth-seeded Raiders (17-5) defeated the 12th-seeded Blazers  25-9, 25-16, 25-18 in the first round.

Twin Valley will travel to No. 4 James Buchanan, a 3-0 winner over Greencastle-Antrim, Tuesday in the quarterfinals.

For the Raiders, Alyssa Green had 20 assists, Jordyn Robinette had four kills, five digs and four aces, Mikayla Riehl had six aces and five digs and Emma Lessick had four kills and two aces.

For Daniel Boone (9-9), Aubrey Hunt had 14 digs, Stephanie George five kills and one block, and Trinity Moyer three kills and six digs.

Class 4A

Exeter 3, Central York 1: At York, Maddie Forry had 20 kills, 20 digs, six aces and two blocks as the 12th-seeded Eagles (12-6) won 25-18, 16-25, 25-23, 25-16 over the fifth-seeded Panthers (11-3) in a Class 4A opener.

Jenna Gehris had 34 assists and seven digs for Exeter, which advanced to a Tuesday quarterfinal at fourth-seeded Wilson, a 3-0 winner over Warwick. Saniya Odom had six kills and two blocks and Riley Mack had six kills, seven digs and two blocks for the Eagles.

Wilson 3, Warwick 0: At West Lawn, Kassidy Means had 12 kills, nine digs and two blocks as the fourth-seeded and Berks champion Bulldogs (19-1) won 25-14, 25-10, 25-16 over the 13th-seeded Warriors (9-7) in a Class 4A opener.

Bintou Sissoho had five kills and eight blocks for Wilson, which advanced to a Tuesday quarterfinal against Exeter at West Lawn. Cameryn Niedrowski had 30 assists.
