Berks Community Action Program Announces Unveiling of Food Truck

from Berks Community Action Program

Berks Community Action Program recently unveiled its premier food truck. Along with its unveiling, the social services organization is excited to announce that it will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of this significant project in the City of Reading and the County of Berks.

The Halloween-themed event is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 31, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at 645 Penn St. The event will feature an opportunity to check out BCAP’s premier food truck, meet elected officials and BCAP board and staff members, wear your costume, and enjoy candy and other treats.

BCAP’s goal and purpose:

With BCAP’s board, staff, and community volunteers, the food truck will provide needed services in many areas of the city where homeless and needy individuals are. It plans to create comprehensive community care packages containing essential items, hot meals, and ready-to-eat meals. Additionally, the social services organization aims to organize impromptu events at various local spots to offer complimentary meals and snacks to the children in the city, ensuring that no child goes hungry.

BCAP is profoundly thankful to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) for its support in enabling it to carry out its crucial mission of providing much-needed assistance to its community members. The truck provided by DCED has played a pivotal role in its ongoing efforts to combat poverty and ensure that essential resources reach those in need. Without this valuable asset, addressing the challenges of poverty in its community would be considerably more daunting.
