The Berks County coroner’s office has issued a certificate of accidental death for a 91-year-old man who was found under a lawn tractor at his Jefferson Township residence Tuesday afternoon.
Fred Lingenfelser III was pronounced dead at 2:49 p.m. by Deputy Coroner Melissa Spuhler. Lingenfelser died of head and chest injuries, officials said Wednesday.
Emergency personnel were dispatched shortly after 1:30 p.m. when someone discovered Lingenfelser under the lawn tractor, the motor of which was still running. He had no pulse.
Officials said Lingenfelser became pinned under the tractor while doing maintenance on it.
