Building a Better Boyertown 14th Annual Oktoberfest: 5 to 9 p.m. Sept. 17 and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 18, free family-friendly, German and fall-themed event that features beer ($5 for beer tent wristband), food, music, entertainment, children’s activities and craft vendors. Sept. 18

Oktoberfest Baking Contest: King Arthur Baking Company sponsors Building a Better Boyertown contest – adults bake black forest cake and youth bake a butter cake. All entries must use King Arthur flour (present UPC and recipe at tasting). Baked goods accepted 11 to 11:45 a.m. Sept. 18. Joint Township Pull-In Movie on the Mountain Night: Join Upper Frederick, Upper Salford and Lower Frederick Twps. for a free showing of the movie “Ice Age: Collision Course” at Spring Mount Ski Slope, Lower Lot (Spring Mount & Clemmers Mill Roads, Schwenksville).  Car pull-in spaces limited to 125 cars.  First come first served! Sept. 18

Fall Festival: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 5 Brooke Manor, Birdsboro. Pig roast, chicken dinners, funnel cake, apple dumplings, cotton candy, soft pretzels and popcorn. Moon bounce, train ride, dunking booth and numerous games for children will line the church driveway. Live music all afternoon. Bingo and silent auction baskets inside fellowship hall. New is a corn-hole tournament.

Vision Screening: 9 a.m. Free vision screening for ages 6 months to age 12 in side Exeter Library parking lot in Lions Club KidSight Trailer. No health insurance needed. Children must attend with a parent or guardian. No appointments. KidSight screens with Welsh Allyn Spot Camera which detects potential for nearsightedness, farsightedness, blurred vision, unequal refractive power, eye misalignment, and unequal pupil size. Heritage Park Open House and Dedication: 1 to 4 p.m., Sinking Spring Area Historical Society in Heritage Park, Sinking Spring for an open house of the 1872 passenger train station and 1858 freight house (once part of the Philadelphia and Reading Railroad’s Lebanon Valley Line), circa 1926 Reading & Columbia Railroad signal building and circa 1900 office building along with the museum collections of local area historical and railroad artifacts. 2 p.m. music by Phyllis Sands. Fit and Fabulous Wednesdays: 9 a.m. exercise class for seniors to improve balance, strength, flexibility, and overall mobility while moving to music.
