Reading & Berks County, Pennsylvania’s Americana Region, is delighted to announce its Sweet & Salty Trail Level 1 is officially open, with its start date coinciding with the first day of spring, the perfect time of year to enjoy ice cream outings! Originally launched in April 2024, the Sweet & Salty Trail gained a strong following, prompting the visitor bureau to bring it back for spring and summer 2025.
Visitors and the community can once again embark on a tasty journey across Berks County, exploring ice cream shops, candy stores, and pretzel bakeries along the way. Participating in the trail requires downloading the Explore Berks App (or the Visit PA Americana app) from a phone’s app store. Once the app is downloaded and an account is created, the Sweet & Salty Trail can be found under the app’s Passport icon. After reviewing the Sweet & Salty Trail’s 12 locations, the fun can start. Trail followers must use the app’s check-in feature to register visits and earn prize points. A phone’s location services must be enabled to register stops along the trail.
The Sweet & Salty Trail is open from Thursday, March 20, through Sunday, Sept. 28. There’s no time like the present to start the first leg of the journey. Make six stops on the trail to receive your first prize. Stay tuned: Level 2 launches soon!
