Berks Encore Senior Expo draws thousands

Thousands of older adults came out Wednesday to attend the 20th annual Berks Encore Senior Expo at FirstEnergy Stadium.

The free event was moved outside to the Reading venue this year for the first time, according to a press release from Berks Encore.

More than 70 businesses were set up to talk with seniors and their families about services including home repair, health and fitness, and travel.

Inside the stadium seniors had the opportunity to walk the track and take part in short fitness demonstrations presented by the Berks Encore Health and Wellness team and Retro Fitness of Kenhorst.

Entertainment from the Plaza stage included Meredith McGrath, Jeff Krick Sr., Rich DeSimone and Josh Taylor and friends from the Hot Club of Reading.

A Redner’s Markets dietitian offered healthy eating tips and recipes, and local politicians were there to discuss available services.

In addition, Penn State Health St. Joseph hospital provided a health fair.
