Berks Fersommling returns after 2-year hiatus

The Fersommling returned to the Leesport Farmers Market on Monday night.

The event had been called off the past two years because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Before the pandemic, the only other time the Fersommling hadn’t run since starting in 1937 was from 1943 through 1945 during World War II.

A Fersommling means to have a social event, featuring food, music, performances and speeches. Certificates of appreciation are given to a board member recognizing their contribution to preserving the Pennsylvania Dutch heritage.
