Exeter improved to a 8-0 with a 36-3 high school football win over Hempfield on Friday as Jayden Zandier ran for two touchdowns and passed for another.
Zandier put the Eagles on the board as soon as the game started, returning the opening kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown.
He also scored on runs of 4 and 20 yards in the game.
Exeter’s other two scores were a 21-yard touchdown reception by Jayden Ware and a 34-yard touchdown run by Pharrell Caceres.
Hempfield is 3-5 overall and is in Section 1 of the Lancaster-Lebanon League. Exeter is in Section 2.
The Eagles’ win sets up a matchup of LL Section 2 unbeatens on Friday. The Eagles host Conestoga Valley (8-0, 4-0) with first place up for grabs.
Zandier gained 74 yards on 12 carries and also played at quarterback, subbing for the injured Riley Martinez, who was hurt in last week’s game and was on the sidelines with a boot on his foot. Zandier completed 3 of 4 passes, including the touchdown throw to Ware.
Carter Redding and Ware each caught two passes for the Eagles.
Ephrata 32, Muhlenberg 0
Ephrata’s defense shut down Muhlenberg enroute to a 32-0 LL Section 2 victory.
The Muhls are 3-5, 1-4, and Ephrata is 4-4, 2-2.
Muhlenberg committed 9 penalties for 78 yards.
Muhlenberg running back Cameron Small gained 62 yards on 19 carries, and quarterback Adriel Baez gained 61 yards on 16 carries.
Muhlenberg plays Academy Park on Friday in a non-league game.
Wilson 58, Penn Manor 0
Madyx Gruber ran for two touchdowns and passed for one as Wilson defeated Penn Manor 58-0 in an LL Section 1 game.
The Bulldogs are 7-1, 4-0; Penn Manor is 1-6, 1-3.
Gruber scored on TD runs of 29 and 6 yards as the Bulldogs took a 14-0 lead after one quarter.
Gruber’s touchdown pass was a 7-yarder to Mike Glover in the second half.
Wilson’s Correll Akings gained 94 yards on 12 carries and Gruber rushed for 59 yards on 7 tries. He also passed for 136 yards, completing 14 of 20 passes.
Glover had 6 catches for 64 yards.
Wilson hosts Lancaster McCaskey in a Section 1 game next week before finishing its regular season against Manheim Township.
Daniel Boone 7, Donegal 6
Daniel Boone blocked a Donegal extra point in the fourth quarter to preserve a 7-6 LL Section 4 victory on Friday night.
The Blazers are 1-7, 1-4 and Donegal is 1-7, 0-5.
Daniel Boone took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on Jayden Salata’s 4-yard touchdown run and Max Heffner’s PAT.
Donegal scored in the fourth quarter on a Leelan Baughman 1-yard run.
Darius Cruz gained 66 yards on 11 carries for the Blazers, who play at Northern Lebanon next week.
Manheim Central 28, Fleetwood 26
Fleetwood scored 20 points in the fourth quarter but came up short in a 28-26 loss to Manheim Central in LL Section 3 play.
Trailing 28-6 at the start of the fourth quarter, the Tigers began their comeback when Tristin McFarland scored on a 12-yard pass from Chase McMonagle and Gryffin Cappellano’s PAT was good with 10:18 left to play.
Nathan Kummerer’s 3-yard run and Cappellano’s PAT made it 28-20 with 5:53 left.
The Tigers then pulled to within two at 28-26 when McMonagle hit Bryce Ryan with a 49-yard scoring pass with 2:56 left. The two-point run conversion failed.
McMonagle completed 19 of 37 passes for 308 yards and three touchdowns.
Fleetwood gained only 37 yards on the ground on 19 carries.
Manheim Central is 3-5, 1-3 Section 3, and Fleetwood is 3-5, 0-4 Section 3.
The Tigers are at Solanco on Friday.
Manheim Township 54, Reading High 0
Declan Clancy gained 148 yards on 13 carries and scored a touchdown as unbeaten Manheim Township defeated Reading High 54-0 on Friday night.
For the Red Knights, Alexis Alvarado gained 36 yards on 9 carries.
Manheim Township is 8-0, 4-0 Section 1; Reading is 2-6, 1-4 Section 1.
Reading High is at Oxford Friday night in a non-league game.
Gov. Mifflin 56, Lebanon 18
LeBron Leaf gained 167 yards and scored three touchdowns as Gov. Mifflin defeated Lebanon 54-18 on Friday night in a LL Section 2 game.
Grady Garner gained 72 yards on 9 carries for the Mustangs, and quarterback Javien Pletz completed 4 of 7 passes for 132 yards.
Reese Hohl caught a 94-yard scoring pass from Pletz.
Lebanon is 0-8, 0-5 Section 2; Gov. Mifflin is 4-4, 2-2 Section 2.
Gov. Mifflin hosts Elizabethtown in a league game on Friday.
Lancaster Catholic 41, Kutztown 20
Brandon Way rushed for 244 yards and scored four touchdowns as Lancaster Catholic defeated Kutztown 41-20 in a LL Section 5 game on Friday night.
For the Cougars, Brenden Ackley rushed for 135 yards on 19 carries and caught two passes for 18 yards.
Lancaster Catholic is 5-3, 4-1 Section 5; Kutztown is 0-8, 0-5 Section 5.
Kutztown is at Columbia next Friday.
