Berks high school cross country: Wyomissing’s David Giles downs Exeter’s Chase Choudhry

In a clash of two of Berks top cross country runners, defending Berks champion David Giles of Wyomissing defeated Exeter’s Chase Choudhry on Wednesday in a quad meet.

Giles, a senior, ran the 5,000-meter Wyomissing course in 15:43.2. Choudhry, a junior who was coming off a second place finish on Saturday at the Northampton Invitational where he ran 15:31.4, finished second in 16:20.7.

Wyomissing defeated Exeter 26-30 in the meet.

Giles won last year’s Berks meet with Choudhry fourth.

In the spring, Choudhry had the county’s fastest time in the 3,200-meter run in 9:14.79.

Giles and Choudhry will vie for the Berks individual title next month, but then go their separate ways as Exeter is in Class 3A in District 3 and Wyomissing is in Class 2A.

In the girls race, Exeter’s Lena Bluestone won the race in 21:07.1.

Exeter defeated Wyomissing 27-28.

Muhlenberg and Reading High also competed in the meet.
