Boys basketball
Wilson junior Madyx Gruber scored a career-high 31 points and made five 3-pointers to lead the Bulldogs to a 59-46 win over Berks Catholic in a Berks semifinal. Gruber also scored 17 points in a 74-51 win over Exeter in a Berks quarterfinal. In the Berks final, Gruber scored 10 points and made a key defensive stop during the closing seconds to help Wilson defeat Reading High 54-53.
Girls basketball
Wyomissing senior Annie McCaffrey scored 14 points in the Spartans’ win over Gov. Mifflin in a Berks semifinal before scoring 16 points in a victory over Wilson in the Berks final, helping Wyomissing capture back-to-back county titles.
Boys bowling
Daniel Boone senior Evan Miller won the BCIAA boys individual title by defeating Exeter’s Aidan Long, 237+59-237+19 in the boys championship match.
Girls bowling
Gov. Mifflin junior Lily Watts won the BCIAA girls individual title by defeating fellow Mustang Valleri Addis 266-216 in the girls championship match.
Boys swimming
Muhlenberg senior Brady Robidas won the 200 free in 1:42.13 at the BCIAA Swimming Championships at Wilson’s Roy G. Snyder Natatorium. Robidas also swam a winning time of 4:43.91 in the 500 free.
Girls swimming
Wilson junior Olivia Vecchio won the 500 free in 5:14.10 at the BCIAA Swimming Championships at Wilson’s Roy G. Snyder Natatorium. Vecchio also swam on the Bulldogs’ 400 free relay team that won in 3:36.21, as well as the 200 free relay team that broke the meet record with a time of 1:45.13. Finally, Vecchio won the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.66.
Boys wrestling
Daniel Boone senior Dean Houser, who scored falls in all three of his bouts, was voted the tournament’s Outstanding Wrestler after winning the 127-pound championship at the District 3 Class 3A Section 1 wrestling tournament.
Girls wrestling
Hamburg senior Isabelle Wilkes pinned York Suburban’s Alysiana Price-Ierley in 5:19 to win the 106-pound championship at the District 3 Class 1A wrestling tournament. Wilkes also scored falls in her quarterfinal and semifinal bouts.
