A man was killed when he was struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in Muhlenberg Township on Saturday night, officials said Monday.
Frank Mastropiero Jr., 62, of Muhlenberg Township was crossing North Fifth Street Highway in the 4800 block at Euclid Avenue when he was struck shortly after 9 p.m., according to the Berks County coroner’s office.
He was pronounced dead at the scene about 9:40 p.m. The coroner’s office determined he died of a head injury and ruled his death an accident.
Mastropiero was crossing in the crosswalk, and the driver remained at the scene, police said. Other details of the accident remain under investigation, police said.
No citations have been issued, and police did not release the driver’s name.
