Berks softball semifinals: Top-seeded Kutztown storms into championship game against Twin Valley [updated]

Top-seeded Kutztown scored 11 runs in the top of the second inning and rolled to a 14-3 win in five innings over fourth-seeded and defending champion Hamburg in the semifinals of the BCIAA softball tournament on tonight at Lyons Field.

For the Cougars (19-3), Jade Fitzgerald went 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored, and Addison Blank doubled and drove in 3 runs.

Also for Kutztown, Sadie Berger went 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored and Brianna Bauscher was 2 for 3 with 2 RBS.

Bauscher got the win in the circle, pitching 5 innings, giving up 9 hits and striking out 2.

The Cougars will play Twin Valley for the BCIAA title at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Lyons Field.

Twin Valley 4, Wilson 0

Erin Cromwell struck out 12 and allowed just 3 hits as she shut out Wilson in the Raiders’ 4-0 win in the BCIAA semifinals tonight at Lyons Field.

The Raiders, the second seed, will play top-seeded Kutztown for the title on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Lyons Field.

Cromwell also went 2 for 3 with a run scored.

For the Raiders (18-2), Maggie Stoltfus and Alex Podehl each had an RBI.

Wilson pitcher Shannon Bratton struck out 7, and gave up 5 hits and allowed one earned run.
