The Spiritual Exploration Project will begin a new expression of the Contemplative Spirituality group with a monthly book discussion that will focus on spiritual themes relevant to the times in which we live, beginning on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 257 W. Walnut St., Kutztown, and continuing on the second Thursday of each month.
The group first will study “The Brothers Karamozov” by Fyodor Dostoevsky, a theological drama that addresses the problems of faith, doubt and reason, followed by a meeting of the Contemplative Spirituality group.
The discussion will be facilitated by Craig Bennett, a retired professor who has studied “The Brothers Karamazov.” The novel is divided into 12 books and an epilogue. The Mission Team has a goal of collecting 5,000 pounds of slightly used shoes through April to raise funds as the team prepares to go to Peru to assist in the reconstruction of homes.
