Graduate senior Sarah Reinert, a Boyertown High grad, become the Alvernia softball team’s all-time hits leader Sunday in a 10-9 non-conference home loss to Lycoming.
Reinert, a left-handed hitter, led off the Golden Wolves’ first inning with a double, tying the record of 202 set by Miranda Peto in 2013. She singled through the right side in her next at-bat to break the record in her 156th game.
A shortstop, Reinert was 2-for-4 with an RBI and scored two runs after going 1-for-3 and scoring two runs in the first game of the doubleheader, a 3-2 Alvernia win.
She leads the Golden Wolves (4-8 MAC Commonwealth, 12-16) in batting average (.440), OPS (1.202), runs (25), doubles (eight), triples (five), walks (13), on-base percentage (.522) and stolen bases (23-for-23). She has struck out just three times in 90 plate appearances.
In the MAC Commonwealth, Reinert ranks first in OPS and triples, second in batting average, on-base percentage and stolen bases and third in runs and walks.
She was the MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year last year and an All-American. She was named one of the top 50 players to watch in NCAA Division III earlier this year.
