Burglars take 200 packs of cigarettes and cash from gaming machine at gas station in Berks

Two intruders got about 200 packs of cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash during a 2-minute burglary of a Strausstown gas station this week, state police said.

At 3:33 a.m. Monday, two burglars broke into Power Gas, 150 Main St., Upper Tulpehocken Township, by using a rock to smash one of the front-door windows.

According to troopers:

Security camera footage shows one suspect immediately going to the counter and cash register before going into the office. Quickly emerging, he returns to the counter where he is seen removing all the Newport-brand cigarettes from the shelves behind the register and putting them in a trash can. He removes the bag in the can and carries it away with the cigarettes inside.

The second suspect, meanwhile, is seen kicking the gaming machine to break open the front panel where the cash box is located.

He carries the cash box to the checkout counter and is seen removing the money from the box. The same suspect is then seen pulling out multiple Marlboro cigarette boxes from underneath the counter. Both suspects leave through the front door at 3:35 a.m. and are seen fleeing toward East Avenue.

No description was provided of the burglars.
