Engineering project

Kelly Brannan of Morgantown was part of a group of Grove City College students that built an aquaponics system for a Cleveland garden.

The Engineers With a Mission student team designed and constructed the system, which turns fish waste into fertilizer and can produce over 200 head of lettuce in a growing season.

The sustainable growing system was installed in May at a community garden supported by Envision Cleveland, a Christian Missionary and Alliance ministry. The chemical-free, solar-powered addition will help provide neighborhood residents with fresh produce and a dinner at the end of the season.

Items are supplied by the media relations offices of the colleges involved.
