Car runs off road in northern Berks, hits man in his yard and driver keeps going

State police say a car slid off an icy road in Greenwich Township, crashed through a fence, hit the resident in the front yard and the driver kept going.

It happened shortly before midnight Thursday in the first block of Kutz Mill Road. Troopers are looking for a dark blue or metallic blue car with front driver side damage.

It’s unclear if the resident, a 76-year-old man, needed an ambulance. Troopers did say he suffered injuries to his head and lower extremities.

Troopers gave this account:

The driver lost control on a curve, and the car slid off the road and went through a split-rail fence. The car crossed the driveway, traveled into the yard and hit the man, who was standing there with his dog.

The man was knocked into the air, came down and hit his head on the ground, momentarily losing consciousness.

The driver steered back on to Kutz Mill Road and kept going.

It was also unclear from the troopers’ information if  the dog was hit and who called 9-1-1.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Hamburg station at 610-562-6885.
