For the first time since 2021, organizers of the Berks Book Bonanza are calling on the community for donations to help make their sale a success.
Volunteers of the nonprofit organization will begin accepting donations of gently-used hardcover and paperbacks, CDs, DVDs, puzzles and games on June 3.
Donations will be accepted at the rear entrance of the Berks County South Campus at 400 E. Wyomissing Ave. in Mohnton on select days through Aug. 17:
• On Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to noon
• On Wednesdays from 5 to 7 p.m.
• On June 15, July 20 and Aug. 17 from 9 a.m. to noon.
A complete list of acceptable donations is available on the Book Bonanza website berksbookbonanza.org.
Book Bonanza is run by more than 70 volunteers. The proceeds from the sale are split evenly between the Friends of Berks County Libraries and the local branch of the American Association of University Women.
The past two years, without a place to call home, the sale was canceled.
But in April, the Berks County commissioners approved a five-year agreement to host the book sale at the South Campus — a move that should bring some stability to the event for at least a little while. The agreement provides just under 9,800 square feet of warehouse space for the book sale at the facility.
